AKUMAL COMEDY FESTIVAL DAY 3: LA SANTANERA

Last night the Akumal Comedy Festival debuted their first all Spanish Playa Del Carmen show at the night club La Santanera. The rooftop room was packed and the audience laughed in hysterics at all of the comedians performing. Below is a selection of the comedians, tonight they perform at Senor Frogs in Playa.  The line up was

AKUMAL COMEDY FESTIVAL DAY 2: WAH WAH BEACH BAR/PLAYA DEL CARMEN

Last night the Akumal Comedy Festival moved up to Playa Del Carmen to the Wah Wah Beach Bar, which is a large open air palapa bar/restaurant by the beach. The large crowd enjoyed the show and the all star line up of comedians. For more information about the comedians see link

FINAL DAY AT AKUMAL COMEDY FESTIVAL


      LAST DAY OF THE AKUMAL COMEDY FESTIVAL ~  7PM  SHOW AT TURTLE BAY CAFE

The show at Turtle Bay was performed with Spanish speaking comedian and local performances.

The jarana is the typical dance of the Yucatan Peninsula.
The local ladies performed the dance during the Spanish section of the show.

This festival to celebrate the unity of life and death, is considered by many to be the most important holiday of the year in Mexico and other Latin American countries.


The festival that became the modern Day of the Dead fell in the ninth month of the Aztec calendar, about the beginning of August, and was celebrated for an entire month. The festivities were dedicated to the goddess known as the "Lady of the Dead", corresponding to the modern Catrina.

Rojo Perez performed for the local audience in Spanish.  A young boy was captivated with his performance.


At the 10pm show Paul Hooper performed at La Buena Vida, and had the crowd in hysterics.

AKUMAL COMEDY FESTIVAL MAY 2nd : GRATEFUL DEAD STAGE and LA BUENA VIDA

8pm show at the Grateful Dead Stage included a Stand Up! Records line up of terrific talent including Mary Mack, Ray Harrington and Adam Quesnell. Special guest star was Rojo Perez. Stand Up! Records producer Dan Schlissel was in attendance as well as Quinn Canady from Comedy 24/7 radio station.

AKUMAL COMEDY FESTIVAL AT THE WAH WAH BEACH CLUB IN PLAYA DEL CARMEN, APRIL 30th


Ray Harrington performed to a packed crowd of over 300 people at the Wah Wah Beach Club in the giant palapa,

AKUMAL COMEDY FESTIVAL BEGINS IN TULUM MEXICO

Last night the Akumal Comedy Festival began. The 3rd annual event presented by Stand UP! Records was a hit, with a packed crowd at the Mateo Mexican Grill in Tulum. Gus Lynch, was the host ( and festival organizer) lead a top quality list of excellent comedians, many traveling from far away like the US, and even China to join in the festival. The festival benefits the local Red Cross that is desperately in need of an additional ambulance.
Headliners like Paul Hooper, Ray Harrington, Turner Sparks and Adam Quesnell had the audience laughing and loving the event.

Tonight the Festival moves to Playa Del Carmen, and then on Friday the Festival moves to Akumal for the following 3 days.
